Let me qualify myself. Been brewing espresso for about ten years. Last five years using fairly high end equipment and superior beans ground for each cup. Nearly all the time I make my espresso straight with a quarter tea spoon sugar and no milk. Therefore my espresso reflects the flavor of the type of bean with a light softening of the bitterness by sugar.



All this experience indicates beans taste best immediately after roasting and/or opening a vacuum bag. Taste and crema amount tapor off in the first week quite a bit. Personal tastes may come to other conclusions but freshness makes a big difference.



Bought two fifty pod bags of espresso. Among those the Lucaffe' Classic was better than most of the twenty five varieties (four each) I tasted. Your taste might be different. This Lucaffe' Classic is smoother, less bitter, and hints at some pleasant subtle flavors I found unique.



Perhaps more important than this particular pod expresso is the clear conclusion for me that pods produce much better espresso flavors than all my efforts to brew from freshly ground beans. Clean up to a lot easier and each shot consistantly fresh due to the foil containers. It is possible over time even the foil wrapping will not prevent loss of flavor I do not know. There is no date on wrapped pods.



Bottom line: Pod espresso is superior to grinding your own. Freshness is more consistant. Clean up is a LOT easier. Time from start to finish is much less. Now I grind only for regular coffee.



IMPORTANT for POD brewing with my machine is plenty of warm up time for espresso machine which reduces amount of extraction in normal brew time of TWENTY TWO SECONDS plus or minus a few seconds. Too short warm up can double ounces extracted in given time. And it is possible that some brands of pods allow too much liquid to pass in twenty two seconds which is the standard time generally accepted.



Have you noticed these pods are the same concept as the Nespresso machines and other similar types? However these pods offer more variety and more competition among suppliers can lead to lower prices if you buy the 150 pods size.



So why only four stars? Some other pods taste slightly better to me. I would give my own, from scratch, brews only three stars compared to pods who get four or five stars.

This product is a great thing for anyone who loves espresso, and wants to make it at home. There's no grinding, no mess, no tamping, or anything else that makes the science of great espresso so challenging. The only downside to using these is that you need to purchase a machine capable of using them. We have one, and it's a beautiful machine (the Francis Francis X1) but it cost close to $1000. If you enjoy espresso a lot, the machine will pay itself back compared to trips to Starbucks or your local coffee shop every day. If you are an infrequent consumer, you may want to look at a less expensive option. Nonetheless, these pods are fantastic, and the coffee is exquisite.

I bought this sampler to use in a Breville Keurig Cup coffee maker (there is an insert you can buy in order to use coffee pods rather than K-cups.) After working out a brewing method, I put the pods to good use. The sampler gives you many different types of coffee to try and I discovered some new coffees that I liked quite well. But keep in mind that "decaf" is a somewhat fuzzy concept overseas, especially with manufacturers that do not sell a lot of coffee to the U.S. I noticed a buzz from a couple of these pods that I wasn't expecting.

I recently bought an espresso machine that had a basket for pods. I thought I would give some a try and Pod Merchant seems to carry them all (I lived in Italy for several years and Pod Merchant has some Italian coffee brands that even I've never heard of).



The sampler packs are a fun way to try different brands. Some are better than others, but trying them out will keep you from later ordering 100 of something you don't like.



The order was processed quickly and they were delivered no problem via UPS. There were also a couple of "freebie" pods and a coupon as a thank you for the order which I thought was a nice touch.

I was really excited when I found this so, I just ordered without any hesitation.



I got the package after few days and It was a great condition.



They even sent me couple of extra pod merchant blend pods.



I'm really enjoying my coffee with illy Francis Francis.



And I just ordered other pod merchant samplers(without decaf, and 100% Arabica)



If you want various coffee taste and flavor, I recommend this sampler.

I am really enjoying the variety of great coffees in this sampler pack. I can now appreciate the qualities of the various blends. I was born and raised in Italy and I am very demanding when it comes to a real, Italian espresso: I am totally satisfied with the ESE pods and machines (mine is a DeLonghi): just remember to only use the first drops of coffee for perfect body and "crema"!

-- better yet, 96 pods of caffeine bliss. This variety is great. All I've tried so far were full-flavored and not bitter at all. I have an old Starbuck's Barista expresso-maker that these work well in. Like a previous reviewer, I had only tried the Illy pods before -- okay, but not great.



If you love variety and great-flavored espresso/cappuccinos, you will want to try these.

After years of nothing but Illy pods -- which are very good -- it was nice to branch out and try some other brands. The variety pack is a fun way to do that. I give it 5 stars because it is as advertised. The coffees are good - some are better than others, you'll find your favorites - and it is also nice to have a variety of decafs in the house.



Illy is still a staple, though.

I used to buy pods at Starbucks, but I started longing for something a little more authentic. Luckily, my fiancee bought me the PodMerchant Megasampler as a Christmas present. I was overwhelmed!



I never knew there were so many different kinds of espresso pods available, especially from one store. The selection in this sampler is huge, and it includes both caffeinated and decaf pods. (There is also the Super Sampler but it doesn't include decaf, which is nice sometimes in the evening).



After trying these pods we found which espressos we liked best and have been buying those, but it all started with the Mega sampler. The shipping was also very fast.



If you're looking to expand your coffee horizons and have an espresso pod machine, you'll almost certainly find some new favorites in here.

I have a Starbucks espresso machine at home and these pods make great espresso drinks. I like them because the cleanup is minimal compared to grinding your own espresso. I just put it in the machine, brew, and then toss out the pod. I've made delicious mochas by using the espresso from these pods, adding some mocha powder and then milk. The drinks taste just like the specialty drinks served at Starbucks, but for much less since the pods only come out to 50 cents each. I do use the Starbucks mocha powder and syrups to make sure my drinks turn out good. I would highly recommend!

I buy these pods at the local Starbucks ($4.95 for 12-pc), and at less than 50c each, they are well worth the money. No mess, no fuss, and absolutely great taste - perfect espresso every time. As it states in the name "Espresso Pods", they are for Espresso Machines, not single serve machines, so don't be fooled by the low reviews people give because they mistakenly bought it for the wrong machine.
